Now that Holocaust Remembrance Day has passed, it has left me thinking. My family is half Jewish.
The survivors had a great strength: both physical and mental. Alongside this, they were fortunately graced with the arbitrary influence of random lucky circumstances and managed to make it through this horrifying experience.
I have neither physical nor mental strength. I would have died, as I would have done in any other historical moment when mental illnesses where less understood. In the end I am graced with one of the elements that the survivors needed: luck.
It is important to remember how lucky we are.
