My Happy Place

I close my eyes and I let my thoughts wander. I’m smiling, running through a field of lilies. I can sense the air around me, the beauty of the sun brightly shining on the field, making the dry grass glisten; the fresh smell of spring engulfing me in its embracing wrap; the sound of water rushing over rocks, drumming to its own tune. Everything is perfect and I feel at ease.

I lie down in the grass, letting my pale skin absorb the sun. The laughter comes natural and I whistle in response to the lone chirping of a bird.

As I snap out of my dream, I feel more relaxed than earlier. I can somehow still feel the lingering warmth of a sun that was never really there.
